And so, finally, to my last wedding of the year. Only two weeks since my previous visit to Dalhousie (for Caroline & Craig’s wedding) but look at the difference in the weather!

I’ve been absolutely swamped with work recently, between winter weddings, albums & videos for Christmas plus the portrait studio, so I have been neglecting the blogging recently. So here comes a quick run through of the last few weddings – no time for lots of waffle, I’ll let the pictures do the talking for a change!

Wedding Photography at Dalhousie Castle – Jane & Dan

Jane & Dan, accompanied by a large posse of friends and family, travelled from the south of England to Dalhousie Castle near Edinburgh for a traditional Scottish wedding – kilts, bagpipes, haggis and ceilidh dancing. After the ceremony the Dalhousie Falconry Centre put on a magnificent owl flying display which was great entertainment for everyone. Unfortunately the weather was traditionally Scottish as well, ranging from blazing sunshine to rain and wind, with everything in between, but it didn’t dampen the spirits of the sixty or so guests who danced the night away to the Bon Accord Ceilidh Band.

The weather didn’t stop us getting some great pictures, here is a slideshow of some of my favourites. The rest will be online soon once Jane & Dan get back from honeymoon. Wedding photography at Dalhousie Castle – Selina & Stephen

Selina & Stephen came all the way from the south of England to the magnificent Dalhousie Castle for an authentic “Scottish” wedding experience. They had the venue. They had the piper. They had the traditional Hand Fasting. They had everything for the perfect Scottish wedding except one thing – the weather, which was glorious (and decidedly un-Scottish). Quite how they managed it I have no idea, but the sunshine allowed everyone to enjoy the patio & grounds of Dalhousie Castle all afternoon.

The very personalised ceremony was carried out expertly by Duncan Robertson of the Humanist Society, with the rings being delivered in unique Dalhousie fashion by Bonnie the owl from Falconry Scotland, who are based in the grounds of the castle. As well as the resident piper Andrew music was provided throughout the day by the wonderfully talented harpist Margaret Knight who travelled from near Skye to play at the wedding.

All in all it was an excellent day, and I thoroughly enjoyed jostling (good naturedly) for position with the multitude of paparazzi snappers who were present! Wedding photography at Dalhousie Castle – Kirsty & Stuart

Decent weather, my favourite venue, great people – it must be Kirsty & Stuart’s wedding at Dalhousie Castle. The ceremony was conducted by the wonderful Juliette Wilson from the Humanist Society with her usual blend of passion and panache, and the rings were delivered mid-ceremony by one of the owls from the Falconry Centre at Dalhousie.

Gail & Andrew travelled from the south of England to marry in fine Scottish style at Dalhousie Castle earlier this week, accompanied by a contingent of family & friends. Janet Hume conducted the ceremony in her usual relaxed and friendly style, and with the rings delivered by owl from Dalhousie’s falconry centre and Andrew the resident piper on hand to provide his unique blend of music and hospitality it was a day which all concerned will remember for many years.

Wedding Photography at Dalhousie Castle – Polly & Ian

It was a pleasant if slightly chilly day at Dalhousie Castle near Edinburgh for the occasion of Polly & Ian’s wedding. A large contingent of family and friends had travelled form around the UK to celebrate with Polly & Ian. As always the Dalhousie staff put on a fantastic day, with a visit from the falconry team to show off a few of their birds, much to the amusement of the guests – especially the younger ones.

First wedding of the year already – Christmas seems so long ago already – was a trip to Dalhousie Castle for the wedding of Jo & Gary. The wedding had a wonderfully relaxed and laid-back atmosphere, but they packed in plenty of action during the afternoon, with the rings being delivered by an Owl from the falconry centre at Dalhousie, releasing Sky Lanterns at dusk, and braving the cold once again to have some fun with sparklers. The last shot of the collection was taken with everyone in front of a welcome roaring fire in the library at Dalhousie.

Wedding Photography at St Mary’s RC Cathedral & Dalhousie Castle – Maria & James

For my final wedding of the year I was back where it all started at Dalhousie Castle to photograph the wedding of Spanish girl Maria to local boy James (hence the wedding cake … ). A large contingent of Maria’s family made the trip from Spain, and the service at St Mary’s RC Cathedral in the centre of Edinburgh was conducted partially in Spanish (which sounded pretty convincing to me) by Monsignor Michael Regan who made everyone – wedding party, guests & photographer – feel very welcome in the magnificent cathedral of which he is Administrator.

After the ceremony there was mulled wine in the function room at the cathedral (preceded by a short trip outside for photos as the rain had held off) before the party returned en masse to Dalhousie for their meal and reception.

Here are a few of my favourite pictures from the day. Check out the figures on the cake (by Too Good To Eat) which looked fantastic. As I left the mixed Spanish contingent were trying valiantly to get to grips with some traditional Scottish dancing, to music by the Scott Leslie Ceilidh Band, Scott was working hard getting everyone to dance in the same direction!

A mid week wedding with just two people – Melissa & Joe – who travelled from California to be married at the splendid Dalhousie Castle. It was a lovely private ceremony with time for a stroll around the grounds of the castle for photos before we left them to have a romantic dinner in the Dungeon Restaurant. Melissa looked radiant and both she and Joe never stopped smiling all day, I’ve never seen two people more excited to be getting married! Here are a few pictures from the day:
