Cassie & John Portraits

Cassie & John are getting married later this month in Bothwell, so we met up at the Hilton Hotel (where their reception will be held) to go over the details of their wedding day to make sure I am fully organised. Afterwards we went along to Viewpark Gardens where we will be doing their photographs. I took a camera along (of course!) and got a few great shots of them as we walked around the grounds.

Ali & Scott’s wedding at Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh

The unseasonal weather on Saturday kept the Australian contingent happy, but we Scots were confused by the bright shiny thing in the sky – it’s only April after all! Ali & Scott had a fabulous day for their wedding, and with six locations in five hours I had my work cut out just keeping up with them. The Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh was a stunning venue for both the ceremony and reception, with additional photos at the flat where Ali was getting ready, Calton Hill for stunning views over Edinburgh and across to Scott’s native Fife, and finally the Queen Street gardens before returning to the venue. Wedding Classics provided a beautiful Rolls Royce to convey the couple, the family, and even the photographer in style.

This was my first wedding since attending a 3 day masterclass with legendary Australian photographer David A Williams and I was buzzing with ideas to try out, though photographing Ali wasn’t a challenge as she looked absolutely stunning. I’m no judge, but I am reliably informed that Scott looked pretty good too! Here are some of the results, your comments are always welcome via the comments function below.

Nicola & Liam’s Wedding at Garvald & Carfraemill

The second (of three!) weddings this weekend was a welcome trip to my maternal homeland – East Lothian for Nicola & Liam’s wedding. As usual I started off at the house where the bride was getting ready, it was like the United Nations and there seemed to be more Canadians and Americans there than locals! The it was off to the tiny parish church at Garvald, where the service was conducted by Alex, a friend of Nicola & Liam who is a recently-qualified minister – in fact it was his first wedding! All went smoothly, although the photos had to be cut short when it started snowing! The reception was held at The Lodge at Carfraemill, my first visit there and it was a wonderful setting for the reception. The evening entertainment was provided by The Picts who were absolutely superb, and I would have love to stay a bit longer to hear them play more – one of the best wedding bands I have seen for years. Nicola & Liam and their families made me feel very welcome, and they looked to be having a great evening as I started the long drive home.

Here are a few pictures from the day. Please feel free to use the comment function to leave us a message with your memories of the day.

Laura & Richard’s wedding at Glenskirlie Castle

Laura & Richard’s wedding at Glenskirlie Castle was my first visit there, and the location was a huge surprise – a modern castle, built to the highest standards – absolutely stunning. Talking of stunning things, Laura looked absolutely amazing, and never stopped smiling all day. With husband Richard in the wedding trade – he manages functions at the new Novotel in Edinburgh Park – the wedding was always going to be well planned & run, and so it turned out.

A great day at a beautiful location – here are a few of my favourite pictures from the day. Please feel free to use the comment function at the bottom to leave us a message.

Sara & John at Guthrie Castle

The first of many visits to Guthrie Castle today, for the unusual Medieval-themed wedding of Sara & John, which took place four years to the day since their first date. A small group of family and friends made the trip from the south-east of England to Guthrie Castle for a truly unique wedding. Although cold & windy the weather held off to allow Sara & John to marry outside, with Sara being piped tot he ceremony by Steven of Scotia Pipers, who also provided a lesson in bagpipe playing to ‘King’ John – it’s harder than it looks!

Pamela and the team did their usual excellent job of keeping everything running smoothly and it was wonderful to be part of such a memorable wedding, here are a few pictures from the day:
