Dalhousie Castle Wedding Fair

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who came to see us at the wedding fair at Dalhousie Castle at the weekend, it was a busy day as always and after the Christmas holidays lots of couples seem to be keen to get their wedding photography booked – which is great for us of course. As a result 2009 is now almost fully booked, and availability for summer 2010 is limited.

Thanks to Amanda and the Dalhousie team for running a great event as always, and for keeping the coffee pot topped up!

Being at Dalhousie (even if it wasn’t for a wedding) gives me a good excuse to run one of my favourite pictures of 2008 – taken in the doorway at Dalhousie during Gillian & Jason’s wedding. The clouds had just parted and I love the colours in this shot, Gillian looks absolutely stunning as well.

Sarah & Mark’s Wedding

My first wedding of 2009 was at the same venue as my first wedding of 2008 – The George Hotel in Edinburgh. This year it was the occasion of Sarah & Mark’s wedding, which took place in the magnificent ballroom of the hotel, expertly run as always by Caroline & Tom and their team. I had a new assistant for the day – Lyndsay – and she did a fantastic job of keeping everything (especially me) organised, as well as shooting some additional images.

Thanks to the staff at The George for their support, and to both families and friends for making Lyndsay & I feel so welcome throughout the day. Sarah & Mark are escaping the horrible weather and jetting off to Hong Kong & various other exotic places for a few weeks, I hope they have a great time & I am lookign forward to hearing about it when they get back.

Here are a few images from the day ….

Lynn & Gordon

Lynn must be one of the most organised brides I’ve ever met – she even managed to organise the only decent weather we’ve had in weeks for her wedding to Gordon at Dalhousie! As usual everything went smoothly, and as we left the large crowd of friends and family were being entertained by the always-excellent Bon Accord Ceilidh Band who, like us, are regulars at Dalhousie.

Here are some of my favourite images from the day:

Holly & Keith

The next day was a return visit (my 5th this year alone) to the wonderful Dalhousie Castle south of Edinburgh for Holly & Keith’s wedding. With a huge group of friends and family having travelled from the south of England and abroad (including a contingent from New York) there was a party atmosphere right from the start. Tracy (video), Callum (camera operator, assistant and general go-fer) had our work cut out capturing all the action – massed party popper firing, sparklers on the terrace, lantern release – there was always something happening. The fabulous Callanish were in full flow when we departed and everyone was in for a good night.

Here are a few pictures from the day, check back in a couple of weeks for the full collection.

Next week – our last visit to Dalhousie of 2008 for Lynn & Gordon’s wedding

Helen & Gary

I have been working with Guthrie Castle as one of their recommended photographers for a few years, and it is always a pleasure to take part in a wedding there. Helen and Gary’s wedding was a small, personal wedding with a few family and close friends in attendance and the intimate, private nature of Guthrie Castle makes it perfect for this kind of wedding. Despite the weather Helen & Gary were brave enough to venture outside for a few pictures, and the portrait of Helen at the gates to the garden, as well as the ones of the two fabulous bridesmaids in the castle, are amony my favourite pictures of recent months.

If you’re looking for a venue for a wedding – of any size – you can’t do better than Guthrie Castle. Call Paul & Pamela, and tell them we said hi!
