Laura & Gary’s Wedding

Borthwick Castle in Midlothian is a stunning location – one of the oldest and best preserved castles anywhere in Scotland – and it always makes for a fabulous wedding venue. Laura & Gary, who live in nearby Tranent, even managed to arrange some of the best weather we’ve had in weeks for their big day. As usual Gail and her team had the whole day running smoothly (and even on time!) but there was still plenty of time for some great photos both in the castle itself and in the extensive grounds. Here are a few of my favourites from the day:

Gemma & Steve

Gemma and Steve are moving to Australia ( a one-way honeymoon!) so it wasn’t just a wedding, it was a going-away party as well. And what a party – four bridesmaids, three (yes, three) Best Men, two fabulous musical performances, and one private air display!

Fingask Castle, between Perth and Dundee, was the location for the wedding, and it was the perfect venue – the castle is in beautiful condition, with extensive gardens and a fabulous marquee pavilion.

The air display was performed by reknowned Perth-based aerobatics pilot Dai Heather-Hayes flying his Pitts biplane and was a huge surprise to everyone, being arranged secretly as a surprise by Steve’s father, also an aerobatic pilot and instructor. Being a former pilot myself (although I always found staying the right way up to be preferable), and a general plane-nut, I particularly enjoyed this part of the day!

Thanks to everyone who made me so welcome all day, here are a few images from the day – I hope you enjoy them, please leave a comment.

Joanne & Stephen

A wedding in a restaurant … bride arriving in a 60′s minibus … a convertible VM Beetle for the wedding car … Joanne & Stephen’s wedding was always going to be unique! Howies in Waterloo Place is not a traditional wedding venue by any means, but the wonderful Penny & her team transformed the fantastic 200 year old Georgian listed building into a stunning location for both the ceremony and the location. Situated at the foot of Calton HIll it was a short drive (or a long climb in the sunshine) to the top for some photos, before everyone trekked back down the hill for more champagne & the meal.

Joanne & Stephen are totally laid-back people, and the atmosphere on their wedding day matched perfectly. Here are some of my favourit photos from the day – if you want to leave us a message or would like to be notified when the full collection is available to view please use the comment function below to get in touch.

I was a guest at Joanne and Stephen’s wedding – great to see some of the photos. They look fantastic and I would be very grateful if I could be notified when the full collection is available.

Thank you.

Rebecca & Andrew

It’s fair to say that Rebecca & Andrew are the ‘outdoors’ type – they met through their mutual love of hillwalking – so their choice of Loch Tay Highland Lodges near Killin was perfect for their unique wedding. The scenerey (which features in a lot of the photos for obvious reasons) was absolutely stunning, it must be one of the most picturesque spots anywhere in Scotland, and despite the threat of rain the weather held out so that the guests could enjoy the view. Despite the remoteness of the venue over 100 of Becca & Andy’s family and friends made the journey, many from south of the border.

The traditional game of golf or trip to the pub for the boys / four hours of pampering for the girls was replaced with mountain biking, hiking and sailing (plus some unscheduled swimming in Loch Tay!), with more of the same on Sunday meant that it became a wedding weekend rather than just a day.

The whole day had a wonderful relaxed atmosphere, and we were able to get some stunning shots at sunset in particular. Here are a few highlights from the day to enjoy:
